During my time in the north working with Outcrop Communications in Iqaluit, I worked on many projects with the Government of Nunavut, including a multi-piece project for the Department of Culture, Language, Elders and Youth (CLEY).
The goal of this project was to share stories of the land collected from elders, as well as to tell the story of uninhabited but historically important places in the vast territory. I created a booklet and posters that shared stories, sharing Inuit knowledge through words and images. The project included my creation of a set of icons and small illustrations used throughout, and mapping the sites identified in the project.
The booklets and posters were printed at Lowe-Martin in Ottawa and I was thrilled to hear that the printers were excited about the project.
